I made a purse organizer and did a little bit of warli  painting at the top.

And below is the painted coaster that I made for her…

The paintings are not perfect, since I am still not an expert in this art, but I am happy she liked it.

With another new year, it would be a new beginning and I wish to learn more and experiment new things. I have got lot of stuff in mind, and I also see it happening.

In 2010 you will see me with a new blog address, since I am planning to shift to blogger. All my new post will be in my blogger address and I will keep you updated about it.  I must take this opportunity to thank my few blog friends who have always encouraged me, and my aim would be to improve my blogging skills and expand my friends with interesting and inspiring work, and also learn more creative and inspiring art. Sewing has become  a part of me and I hope to improve my sewing skills this year.

I am sorry the pictures are not very clear…. But I couldn’t wait to blog about this achievement of mine. I have just done a few smocking lines on the neck of this top. But next time I can confidently do something more challenging.

The fabric also is not a very good one, since I dint want to risk any of my cherished fabrics.  Don’t you all think its ok for the first time trial…..

After the above crusade of mine, I was so…. frustrated, that I wanted to do some quick finishes. And during Eid holidays myself and Nima went shopping and got some real nice materials. I was itching to sew,and on Friday, it was just me and my sewing machine.  Since my husband is out of town, I was really feeling bored too. I finally accomplished the long pending work of stitching a nice cover for my arm chair, not just one but two!!.

Can you notice a small mistake that I have made?  I think you must have guessed, lol  . I made the pleats on the wrong side.  But I realized this after I stitched the bottom and sides, and moreover it was not looking so.. odd.  So I left it like that. My husband felt that it is a very practical little thing, with my two sons always munching gums or enjoying a shawarma  or two in the car while we are driving.

This is not my first attempt at hand embroidery, but after my school days this is my first completed project. I always had a fascination for hand embroidery but I think the passion was not enough to take it up seriously. Now that I have started sewing, thanks to Nima and Mayya, I got inspired to start my hand embroidery again. Once you embroider, you can make such small,easy and quick finishes.

This is a small envelope shape pouch, which can be kept inside  your purse. ( will look great with cloth bags). The pattern is from Grandma’s linen pouches by Joan Fee.

I still haven’t attached a button to it, I am planning to attach a press button, which I don’t have at the moment with me. But I couldn’t wait to blog my finish.

Here’s one close look at my embroidery. I have only used simple lazy daisy stitch and french knots. I love it……

Next will be my Sew it  feature from Mayya’s blog. This time its a car trash bag. I found it very interesting and practical. So I am going to make it soon.

This basket I made from one of the Sew it feature, and since I had made one for myself before, I was more confident this time.

Then I also painted a few coasters for her, I have done warli painting on them. This is the first time I tried painting with oil paints. But after painting this one I felt acrylic paints were easy to use, since it dries up quickly. Oil paints really takes time to dry and it doesn’t spread easily. Here are the coasters.

After missing last time’s sew it, due to my lap top problems, When I got my  back my laptop I was eagerly waiting for this week’s sew it feature. This time Mayya had featured a lovely bag, and I desperately wanted to make this one.

But with my limited sewing skills, I was confused at some places Thanks Mayya, your forum  and motivation really helped me.

I din’t have any flannel with me neither did I have a soft fusible interfacing, and to be very honest I was hesitant to use my cherished materials since I was worried how it would turn out. So I have just used a simple grey cotton cloth for the main body and the lining  is a black cotton material, and since I had a stiff interfacing with me, I ironed on the stiff interfacing only at the base of the bag on the main material. The button is a small crochet motif that I had made with a bead attached to it.

But now I am confident, and I will surely make one with some bright color material and this time I will definitely add a fusible fleece. 

My friend’s daughter Ananya, modeling for my bag. The sling is a little long for her though. ( The snaps are a little dark.. sorry about that.)
